Our stay in September in the Robert Todd’s Bedroom was just as described. The bed and bath (shower small) were very clean and well appointed. The room was very large with good lighting for nighttime reading in bed. New windows had recently been added so our window unit was not in place, instead we had a window fan. Unfortunately, the weather turned 90 degrees in the day so we were not as comfortable as we would have liked. The chairs overlooking the lake (limited view with trees) was a great way to relax before dinner. Our host, Susan was very gracious, however, Marc was out of town on business. Susan had hosted a brunch for a group of ladies who visited her gift shop. The open kitchen became a stacking place for dishes for every meal for three days plus her compost. Needless to say, we hit the road for breakfast (found Toby’s in Watkins Glen). The town’s people all seemed to have good things to say about the Inn. Brenda

We had actually booked Top O’ The Lake, based on reviews here, on July 30th for an October stay. After we called them a week before our trip to confirm, they discovered they had screwed up and overbooked! Despite the fact that they agreed that we were the first party to book those dates, the innkeeper decided we were the ones who would be turned away. But, she did find us a room at the Merritt Hill Manor. This turned out to be a stroke of wonderful fortune. This lovely inn, while a few minutes away from Penn Yan center (which rolls up its sidewalks at 6PM anyway) has an amazing view of Keuka Lake from its hilltop location. The innkeepers, Mark and Susan, could not be more welcoming to their exquisitely decorated and scrupulously clean home. Unlike at many other B&Bs, guests are welcomed into the enormous kitchen to chat with the hosts and other guests while breakfast is being prepared to be served in the dining room. And, what a breakfast! Fruits, assorted juices, always a wonderful hot entree plus a sweet baked good, and more. Delicious and always way too much food! And recipes are happily shared, when requested. Oh, and when we first arrived, they asked about our food preferences and whether we had any food allergies, which was nice. The 5 guest rooms are all different, but are all beautiful (we peeked). Not a lot of kitsch, just exquisite taste. Rates are comparable to or less than other B&Bs in the area. We were not surprised to learn that almost everyone we met there had stayed before. We expect to be repeat customers, too! You cannot do better than this!

Merritt Hill Manor has been beautifully restored and decorated with your peaceful stay in mind. The wide pine board floors have been preserved and original artwork adorns many of the walls. Guestrooms are furnished with antiques and include canopy beds, comfortable sitting areas for your relaxation and private baths in each guest bedroom.

A hearty country breakfast is served daily, an event that will surely be one of the most pleasant experiences at Merritt Hill Manor. Many of the dishes are prepared with fresh herbs, fruits and in season vegetables, and are complemented with homemade breads.

One of the first houses built in Jerusalem Township, the land was deeded from the Seneca Indians in the Gorham/Phelps purchase. It was once used as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Rolling hills of vineyards and orchards, a creek, a stable, and open pastures surrounds Merritt Hill Manor. You are invited to enjoy our gardens with a variety of trees, shrubs, and flowers. Something is always in bloom.

Merritt Hill Manor is conveniently located for a wide variety of activities. From early spring to late fall, roam country lanes, visit the Finger Lakes Wine Region with over 80 individual wineries or explore the scenic villages and beautiful natural resources. You can also sit out front in Adirondack chairs with one of the best views in the Finger Lakes as you sip wine bought that day or curl up in front of the manor’s fireplace to read. The peace of country living awaits you at Merritt Hill Manor – whether it’s for a relaxing weekend or an extended retreat.

Rates:

• Our in-season room rates for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are from $165 to $189 per night, plus applicable taxes.
• Third person in a room, add $25 per night.
• We accept cash, personal checks, travelers checks, VISA, and MasterCard and American Express.

Deposit & Cancellation:

• We will hold your room with a valid credit card number.
• We thank you for honoring our two-week cancellation policy.
• We require notice of cancellation 14 days prior to your scheduled arrival date. Late cancellations will result in your credit card being charged for the full amount of your reservation ONLY if your room cannot be resold.

Policies:

• Check-in between 3:00 and 9:00 p.m. (late arrivals can be accommodated).
• Check-out is 11:00 a.m.
• There is a two-night minimum on weekends during the Season.

There are ample shopping opportunities for antiques, crafts or the many popular retail shops. Visit the Windmill, a Mennonite Farm & Craft Market, open each Saturday. The Prime Outlet Mall is less than an hour away.  MacKenzie-Childs, manufacturers of highly eclectic art and gift items, is a most interesting stop. You can visit Hammondsport, Naples, Canandaigua and many other scenic villages. And don’t miss the many antique barns and shops across Yates County.

The best place to start is one the area’s numerous state parks including Watkins Glen State Park, Keuka State Park (only 5 minutes away), or the Finger Lakes Natural Forest. Don’t miss the biking and hiking opportunities at the Keuka Outlet Trail.
